Week 6 term 3

Week 6

We hope all our kākano families are having a lovely weekend.  Even though our

cross country race has been postponed until term 4 we are still training every

morning (weather permitting).  It is great that the kākano teachers can see improved fitness levels among all the children.

Grandparents Day

Just a heads up to your families. We are celebrating Grandparents Day on Friday 28th October at 9.00 am. We have Andrew Chinn here on that day too so we are hoping he will join us at Mass. Andrew Chinn writes many of the songs that we sing

at school and is such a talented musician. He visits us every few years and the students have a wonderful day singing with him.

Next Week

I am away this week in Christchurch as my son is playing in the Nationals Competition for Rugby. Marion Britts who the children in Kakano 1 know very well is filling in for me. I have left everything planned and she will have a wonderful time with your child. If for any reason you need to contact me just email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

School Production - Little Red Rocking Hood

All kakano classes have begun to practice their dance for the production. Our dance is to the song - The Purple People Eater. So far the children are doing amazingly well learning their dance. Here are some of the important dates/information you need to know.

Weeks 5-8 - Classes continue to learn their dance routine at school during

school time with Mrs Trask (our production director)

Week 8 - Bring your costumes to school in a named bag and give it to your teacher. Your costume is a plain black t-shirt and plain black pants or shorts.

Your costumes will stay at school until after the production is completed.

Costumes need to be at school this week as we have full dress rehearsals next week.

Week 9 - Full dress rehearsals at school during school time. This is our practice runs for the production next week. They will all happen during school

time.

Week 10 - Production week. The production will take place on Tuesday 27th

and Wednesday 28th of September in the school hall. On each of these days

there will be two performances - a matinee (during school time) and an evening performance. The production will be about an hour long. Our classes have been split into two groups and your child is expected to be at both performances.

Group A - performs on Tuesday 27th - classes include K1, K3, K5, K7

Group B - performs on Wednesday 28th - classes include K2, K4, K6, K8

Closer to the week of production, tickets will go on sale and times will be announced for the matinee and evening performances. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
